 Review:
The Oxnard skatepark is a mid-sized skatepark that has a good mix of street and transition terrain. The cement pour is smooth and fast with only a few kinks with metal coping all around. The entrance and center of the skatepark features a street course with several hubba ledges, pyramids, grinding blocks, rails, and quarter pipes. There is a beginner run that is about 3' deep with hips and a bowl at the end of the run. Rounding out the skatepark is combination bowl that on one side is around 8' deep with a 10' extension that flows out to another 5' bowl.

As with most of the current skateparks in SoCal the new Oxnard skatepark is a collision course so keep your eyes open as you skate through the skatepark or you could be in for a head on collision.

Bottom Line: The overall design of the skatepark is good and will be a great skatepark for the locals for years to come. For transition skaters, the skatepark is road trip worthy if you like skating bowls. The bowls take awhile to get use to but with a clear path lines are to be had.

Other Information

The skatepark was designed by world-renowned architect/surfer/skateboarder Zach Wormhoudt who, through public workshops, received input from many local skateboarders and used it to develop a facility that would meet their needs.

Built at a cost of $430,000, the park was funded by Certificate of Participation (C.O.P.) and Quimby interest. Oversight of the project was led by Dave Gorcey with the assistance of Larry Thompson and Doug Bungert. The contractor was Channel Islands Paving of Camarillo and California Skate Parks as the sub contractor.

Skateparks are becoming more common as Skateboarding grows as a sport in Southern California. A Skatepark Directory such as SoCal Skateparks can help you to find the best Skateboard Parks in Southern California. We have put this Skatepark Directory together so that skateboarders in Southern California can find skateboard parks easier. Skateparks are important to the foundation of skateboarding. In order for skateparks to remain vibrant in SoCal we have to do our best to make sure that the skateparks that are built here are going to be skateparks that our children will want to skate 20 years from now. We want this to be your first choice skatepark directory and hope that all of the skateparks listed here will help you to find your way.
