| Review: | Helmets off to the city of Chula Vista for stepping up to the plate and building a fine skatepark for the skateboarders of SoCal. The Staff is way cool, the vibe is good, but you need to pay to play. Here are the details:
The Chula Vista Skatepark is huge and has 4 separate areas.
Near the entrance of the skatepark is a wooden ramp/rhythm section that is a good area for beginners and the street oriented skater. The ramps are the same ramps used at the 2003 California Adventure X-Games Experience.
Here is the smaller of the two reservoir sections, the lower reservoir which has 4' to 6' banks and a pyramid. 
Lower Reservoir
The upper reservoir section is huge with large banks ranging from 3' to 9' in size.
Upper Reservoir
Surrounding the upper reservoir are ledges, fun-boxes, rails, a lot of free flowing crete, and a 2-stair, 4-stair, and 8-stair. 
Street Elements
At the back of the skatepark is a terraced Peanut Bowl. The 6' shallow-end of the bowl is actually about 4' higher in elevation than the 8.5' deep-end of the bowl.

The skatepark has lights so night sessions are on for you San Diego dudes. Also, the skatepark will soon also have a fully stocked Utility Board Skateshop. How many skateparks have a skateshop. Very cool. The skateshop should be open sometime in late October or early November. The restrooms are clean and there is even a snackbar to get some grub after a long session.
Note: In 2006 a 6 foot mini, 4 foot mini, street course and kids section have been added to the Chula Vista Skatepark.
Bottom Line: Nice addition to the skateparks currently available in San Diego. Considering what could have been shaped with all of this concrete, I was somewhat dissapointed that the Skate Gods were not guiding those designing and pouring this skatepark a bit more closely.
